My family loves to grill and we grill all year round. No kidding! This weekend, the sun was out and it was a good day to bbq, then we realize our bbq rub was running low, so we had to mix a new batch. So, we got the 5 ingredients out and Bam! the best bbq rub as usual…

Ingredients for bbq rub (spicy bbq rub)

Salt

Salt is the base of your rub. It draws moisture from inside of your meat to the outside. It adds flavor.

Black pepper

Black pepper is a versatile spice that is rich in anti oxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Paprika

You can use smoked paprika or paprika. I like any of the two in my bbq rub. It gives a nice spicy kick to my rub.

Brown sugar

Brown sugar gives a balance to the dry rub mix. It is important to follow the measurements in the recipe card to avoid using too much.

Bouillon powder

Bouillon powder gives extra flavor to this mix. You can use chicken or beef bouillon powder. You can omit this ingredient if you are not a fan of bouillon powder.

Cayenne/ Chipotle pepper

How to make BBQ rub

  • Measure all ingredients into a clean and dry bowl.
  • Mix all ingredients together thoroughly.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • Label the jar and note the date of production.
  • Your spicy BBQ rub is ready!

How to Use

This spicy BBQ rub can be used on Meat, Pork, Chicken, Fish. It can be used on deviled eggs, vegetables. Here is how to use on meat, pork, chicken or fish;

  • Ensure that your meat is dry and does not have extra moisture on the surface. You can pat dry with kitchen towel.
  • Add the dry rub to the surface.
  • Use your hands to rub spices all over, ensuring that rub is all over.

  • ½ cup salt
