This is the dish that no matter how much I make, we never seem to have any leftovers because my kids go for seconds. It is that delicious! This homemade beef tips and gravy recipe is simple, quick to make and it is flavorful and extremely tasty.
My recipe does not use any browning sauce and the gravy is made from scratch. In this dish, the beef is seasoned with pepper and salt and browned before simmering in the savory beef gravy. This makes the beef tips tender, and tasty. This is a step by step recipe on how to make beef tips from scratch.
Ingredients

Beef: Sirloin, tenderloin, or chuck roast. I like to buy chuck roast and cut into cubes of about the same size.
Olive oil: You can substitute for unsalted butter. If substituting with salted butter, reduce the salt to avoid being too salty.
Garlic: Fresh garlic minced, you can substitute with store-bought canned minced garlic.
Pepper: I mix my black pepper and paprika because I like a kick to my food and it balances the taste and brings it all together.

Soy sauce: I use a mixture of low sodium soy sauce and dark soy sauce half and half.

In a bowl, season the beef cubes with the pepper and salt.
Put a skillet on high heat, add a spoon on olive oil, and brown the beef in a single layer.
Turn the beef and brown beef on the other side. Set aside.
Put a pot on medium to high heat, add the remaining olive oil and sautee the garlic and onions.
Mix the flour and cornflour together and add to the sauteed onions and garlic and brown.
Add the beef broth to the pot, whisk and simmer.
Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and the browned beef to the pot.
Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
