Simple skin care routine! Your skin is the largest organ in the human body. It protects the body from harmful things by acting as a barrier. Developing a daily skincare routine will keep your skin glowing and beautiful.
Personally, I use a simple skin care routine that is easy and quick enough for me to be consistent with it. My skin care routine involves a few steps that yield beautiful skin. I will be sharing these simple skincare routines with you. I do these steps every morning and evening and it takes just a few minutes to do.
Skin Types
Knowing your skin type is the first step in setting a skincare routine for yourself. Skin types may change as we age or grow older and also factors like stress, medication may affect the skin type. It is important to use the right product for your skin type and to create a skincare routine. These are the four common skin types:
Oily Skin
If your skin looks shiny most of the time, you probably have oily skin. If you have oily skin, your pores are more pronounced around your forehead, nose, and chin. Oily skin happens when there is too much production of sebum. Sebum is important for keeping our skin healthy and too much of sebum makes it oily and can cause acne and clogged pores.
Dry Skin
This skin type is the opposite of oily skin. The skin is dry because it is not producing enough sebum and may look dull and rough. If you have dry skin, it is important to keep it hydrated to use the right products to have radiant skin.
Normal Skin
This skin type is well hydrated and healthy. This type of skin produces the right amount of sebum, and although the T-zone may be oily, the skin is not too oily or dry. If you have this type of skin, your pores are fine and skin is smooth without blemish.
Combination Skin
This skin type is a combination of normal skin and oily skin. Combination skin is normal skin but an oily T-zone because of the overproduction of sebum in some parts of the skin. If your T-zone is oilier than other parts of your face, you probably have a combination skin type.
Skincare Basics
Taking care of your skin involves just six steps. Incorporating these six steps into your everyday life will yield clean and clear skin. These steps are to be done in the morning and evening for best results. These steps are listed in the order in which they should be done and they should be done morning and night.
Cleanse
Your skincare routine starts with washing your face. Cleansing your face removes sweat, makeup, dead cells, and other impurities. It is important you use a facial cleanser to wash your face. Facial cleansers have a lower pH and designed to cleanse your face without causing dryness by stripping the healthy oils. It is important to use a facial cleanser that suits your skin type.
Tone
A toner should be used after cleansing your face. A facial toner unclogs your pores by removing the last traces of impurities from your face and helps control acne. Rosewater is a natural toner that is ideal for most skin types. To apply toner, soak a cotton pad or ball with the toner and cleanse the face and neck. Be careful around the eyes and the nostrils.
Serum
Facial serums are lightweight and are quickly absorbed into the skin and they contain ingredients that deal with issues such as spots, dark circles, and wrinkles. Common ingredients in serum include hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, Peptides, and Retinol. Pay attention to the labels and buy the serum that deals with your specific skin issue.
Eye Cream
Eyes creams are specially formulated for the sensitive skin around the eyes. The skin around the eyes is quite thin and is the most delicate part of the skin. Eye creams hydrate and brighten the eye area and address other issues like lines and wrinkling.
Moisturize
Moisturizers maintain the balance of your skin. It hydrates and softens your face. Your choice of moisturizer should be based on your skin type. Without a moisturizer, your skin will be dry and may cause breakouts.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen protects your skin from UV rays and it is an important part of your skincare routine. It helps maintain an even skin tone and reduces the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles. Sunscreen should be applied even if your foundation contains SPF.
Weekly Skin Care Routine
Once you have your skin care routine set, it is time to up your game by incorporating facial masks into your routine. Facial masks should be chosen based on skin issues. Facial masks unclog pores, absorbs excess oil, and other skin needs. They are different types of facial masks ranging from exfoliating to stimulating. Face masks should be used once a week or twice weekly.
